Sewage Treatment Plant to be named "Ezra Levant"

Beaverlodge Sewage Treatment facility
Without much debate, and by a unanimous vote, the Beaverlodge waste-water treatment facility on Highway 722 has been given a new name : Ezra Levant. The motion to name the sewage treatment facility after Levant was approved at Tuesday's meeting of the Beaverlodge town council. "Its a great day for Beaverlodge," said councilor Mohammed Khan. "We wanted to give our sewage treatment facility an appropriate name, and I can't think of anyone more synonymous with raw sewage than Levant." When asked why she voted in favour of the motion, Councilor Rose Stevens said that she "Did it for the Lulz." (sic)
Levant, the outspoken host of SUN TV's "The Source" and the publisher of the now defunct Western Standard Magazine is a controversial figure. He is perhaps best known for his publication of the infamous Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. He was subsequently brought before the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission to defend his publication.
"I don't know why they did this" said longtime Beaverlodge resident Clancy Martin. "It seems kind of insulting to associate someone with wastewater." Other residents of Beaverlodge seemed more enthusiastic about the new name. "It is kind of funny, right?" said Karen Mayes, director of the Beaverlodge youth centre. "Ezra Levant and raw sewage sort of go together."
Whatever the motivation, our humble town is sure to draw some national attention for this curious development. "This is sure to put the town of Beaverlodge on the map among politicos" said local restauranteur Jason Raymond. "Maybe the council wanted to show the rest of the country that Alberta isn't all Conservative." Levant was unavailable for comment.
